Traffic Stop Leads To Fugitive From Justice Arrest
A traffic stop late last week led to a local man being arrested for being a fugitive from justice.
An officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reports that he initiated the traffic stop around 5:30 Friday when he noticed a car with an expired license plate. He stopped the Kia Sorento at the North Locust Avenue/Weakley Creek Road intersection.
The driver, Bart Harold Andrews, 43, of 803 Fairview Avenue, quickly informed the officer that he was on probation in connection with an infraction that had occurred in Mississippi.
The officer reports that a check through the National Crime Information Center revealed that there was an outstanding warrant that had been issued against Andrews in Madison County, Alabama. He was wanted there for failure to appear in court.
Andrews was issued citations for expired tags and having an incorrect address on his driver license. He was then placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center to await further legal action.
